Cookbook + Book Haul
I walked into The Warehouse over the weekend on the hunt for photo frames and ending up seeing their book sale. Normally I look at those stacks and see nothing I like, because they are obscure books that no one wanted, or are quite badly damaged. This time around though, I spotted The Rest of Us Just Live Here, which actually didn't come out that long ago and I've wanted since before it did, so took my time looking through the stacks to see what else I could find. I thought I would share my book haul with you.
I also spotted a cookbook table so I can a quick look thrugh each of them. While there were quite a few that I wanted, I limited myself to just two for now. I see a lot of Nigella's books and want quite a few of them, so when I saw Simply Nigella I had to have it. Cook is made up of recipes, with each step as a photograph. I think this will be super helpful for making new types of food, so grabbed this one too.
I paid half price for most of these books, if not, they were 30% off. The issue I have with buying books in New Zealand is that they are generally double the price than if I bought them online. If it's a hard cover, or a beautiful edition, I don't generally mind, but I often try to shop online. I also choose to buy in independent book stores when I can. That's when I really don't mind paying more, because they are a stand alone store. I love to support local book stores, but I also think as a business, you should offer your products at a reasonably competitive price. That's why I go big at the sales.
