All I Know Now by Carrie Hope Fletcher // Book Review
I'll be honest, I didn't quite know what to expect from this book, other than some life tips and some tidbits from Carrie's life. So when I was getting through the first few chapters and it was only about primary and high school, I wondered if I was a little too old for it. Carrie and I are the same old so to use her life as a resource would be to use the ages I've already come past too.
However, I was wrong. Carrie, goes through all of the stages of her life so far: school, bullying, the Internet (note the capitilisation) friendships, sex, saying no and contraception, career, self confidence and depression, the lot. So many of these kind of transcend age. My favourite sections were about friends and relationships and her career. These were super relatable. I must say, she's far more "successful" than I am in the career category and she inspires me, so this was expected.
Carrie is a big sister of sorts to so many people around the world. Her advice to be as happy as possible in life is simple. To be kind. To treat others well despite how they treat you. To push yourself to the fullest. The best parts about each chapter is that Carrie uses her own life experiences as examples. No hypocritical shit here. It's not like a tell-all though, so if that's what you're after, it's not what this is about. But if you watch a lot of her videos.
You'll likely know I love audiobooks, and this is one I'd love. I'm particularly keen on books narrated by the author and I could just image her making me laugh.
Especially if you watch Carrie's videos, go get it. It's a really easy read too so if you're on a break, go for it.
This is one of the first of the "YouTuber" books that I've read, but I'm keen to read more since each one seems different and with the publishers behind them, the others must be great too.
Below, I've linked some videos where Carrie chats about her book if you want to take a look.
I'd like to say thanks to Hachette NZ for sending me my review copy. However, all opinions are my own.
